|
Lucas McCollum, 27 years old, is entering only his third year in triathlon, but he has already exceeded even his own expectations. Competing in one of the most competitive age groups, the 25-29 age group, Lucas has already blown away many of his original goals by qualifying for the USAT National Championships, securing the fastest bike split in his age group in five different races, winning a race outright, placing first in his age group multiple times, and most recently by qualifying to represent Team USA in Holland at the USAT Long Course World Championships. It is clear from these results that Lucas is a rising star in triathlon with a keen understanding of what it takes to win. Though Lucas is relatively new to triathlon, he has always been a successful athlete. Playing football, basketball, and baseball growing up, Lucas earned a scholarship in baseball to compete on the collegiate level at Jacksonville State University. He was then drafted by and played for the Seattle Mariners in their minor league system. Outside of sports, Lucas works as a physical therapist in Frederick Maryland.
